Just had another comic book sighting in a feature film -- this time its Don Siegel's Crime in the Streets from 1956. In the first picture we have what looks like an issue of Red Ryder, a Modern Romances magazine, a Dell Roy Rogers comic and an issue of Straight Arrow.

Blog of cartoonist Terry Beatty. Terry's credits include THE BATMAN STRIKES, MS. TREE and SCARY MONSTERS magazine. Recent work includes THE ADVENTURES OF UNEMPLOYED MAN, RETURN TO PERDITION and King Features' THE PHANTOM. This blog is devoted to his work and whatever pop culture imagery he finds of interest. Richard A Scott left this message on my facebook page: "I am still looking. the straight arrow book appears to be issue #48. A Vital Clue. the movie is 1956 but the filming happened in 1955. The Roy Rogers is #77 from 1954. red ryder appears to be #139 from 2/55. I'm thinking the mystery comic is a either a crime or western."
Very interesting, try to check the opening of Robot Monster... you will find
obsucre comic books covers from fifties.
Lovelorn, I believe, was the comic on the right ? There was also a couple of scenes in side the shop with comics shown - will have to rewatch
