Green styrene Lantern

Now that the Green Lantern model kit that I designed for Moebius Models is on store shelves, I thought I'd share some images here.  The first pic is my concept sketch with notes.  I wasn't convinced this pose would be possible, but sculptor Joe Laudati made it work!

 Finally, here are a few shots of my build-up of the actual model kit.  It was a thrill to be involved in the production of this piece. Reaction from collectors and builders has been very positive.

Green Lantern in styrene

We're fairly well settled into our new digs in the Kansas City area, and I'm back to work after finally getting my studio re-assembled. I'll eventually post some pics of the new workspace and my various collections on display there -- but for now, here's one of my latest projects.

This soon-to-be-released Green Lantern model kit from Moebius was designed by me, and I did the box illustration as well. The kit prototype was sculpted by Joe Laudati from my drawing. I'm thrilled with the end result -- as I wasn't even sure this pose was possible!

As this was intended to be the Silver Age Green Lantern, I leaned on Gil Kane's original design as much as possible -- the robot on the base is even a Kane-style 'bot. The box art was meant to invoke the Aurora kits of the '60s -- and I hope it'll fit in well on kit collectors' shelves next to Wonder Woman, Superboy and the others.

This is a kit that I've wanted since I was a kid -- so it was a special treat to be involved in ins creation. My thanks to Frank at Moebius for inviting me to contribute to the process.

More commissions!

Another round of commissions!  The Spidey and Supes drawings are a matched set for a client who wanted to see iconic images of the characters changing from their secret identities.  Solomon Grundy is for a long-time fan who's been getting animated-style drawings of many DC characters.  A Golden Age inter-company crossover has Green Lantern fighting the Red Skull -- and Galactus must be daydreaming abut all those planets he's going to eat.... (note: I made some minor adjustments to the Galactus and Clark Kent pieces -- new scans are now replacing the originals here)

Today's commissions

Comic art collectors are certainly keeping me busy with all these commissions -- and here's the latest.  One of the loyal few -- my long-time Wild Dog fans -- wanted to see the Wild one teamed up with the Kyle Rainer Green Lantern -- and though I'm a Hal Jordan man myself, who am I to refuse a fan's request?  This image patterned after the cover of "Hitman" #12 -- at the fan's request.   That's followed by the Thing versus Thor  - Kirby style (of course).

FallCon sketches

These commissioned drawings will be delivered to their buyers at FallCon this weekend.  From the bottom up,  we have Green Lantern vs. Sinestro, Wild Dog and his unwanted "sidekick," Wild Pup -- and maybe my best Ms. Tree sketch ever.....

More commissions

Comic art collectors are keeping me busy turning out one commission after another.  Here's the latest batch, Captain America, Golden Age Green Lantern,  Hawkman, Batman and Batgirl and the Earth-2 Robin.  I have quite a few more to do.  If you're interested in getting on my list, let me know.
