Self Portrait (with friends) in pencil

Here's another piece from my art sale sorting (already sold!) -- a pencil self portrait from a few years back. The glasses, facial hair and haircut have all changed since then! I know I did an inked version of this, too -- but haven't stumbled across it yet. I think I did this for the cover of a sample book of my art. An inked version of the Creature head was used as an entry hand stamp at a convention (Wonderfest maybe?) one year. I still have the rubber stamp someplace....

Anyhow -- that's me -- or a previous version of me -- with some of my favorite characters.

Tor love Bettie!

Drawn in 1994, and intended for an issue of  Tor Love Bettie which never saw print, "Where Bettie?" eventually was published in the comics section of an issue of Scary Monsters magazine.  I found the originals while digging through my files for art to sell on eBay -- and I thought before I offered them up for bid, I'd at least let the story find more of an audience here.  So below you'll find all five pages of this oddball piece -- complete with guest appearances by Criswell, Eck,  the Little Rascals, the Bowery Boys, the Stooges (Shemp!), Mary Hartline, Edison's Frankenstein, Volto, Toto, Snowy/Milou, Vampira, David Letterman as a flying monkey -- and of course, Bela Lugosi.  So please enjoy my tribute to the Swedish man mountain, Tor Johnson, and the ever-lovely Miss Bettie Page.  Click on the images for a larger, more readable view.

They don't make 'em like this anymore!

Continuing to share stuff from my collections as I sort through them.  This nifty little digest mag of girlie pics and cartoons from 1957 features the late great Bettie Page on the inside front cover -- and panel cartoons by the like of Wenzel and Machamer.  Nothing like this on the newsstands anymore!  Well, except for my pal Java's Bachelor Pad Magazine!
